The Role We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Accrington on a full-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced English Teacher to join the school and provide high-quality teaching and learning during a period of maternity cover.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging English lessons across the secondary age range, supporting pupils to develop their literacy, communication and analytical skills.

The role is available to start as soon as possible and offers the opportunity to become part of a supportive and established school team.
Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Teach engaging lessons that encourage pupils to develop a love of English and literature.
• Prepare appropriate resources and learning activities in line with the curriculum.
• Differentiate and adapt lessons to meet the needs of pupils with varying abilities.
• Monitor, assess and provide constructive feedback on pupil progress.
• Establish and maintain positive classroom behaviour and expectations.
• Build strong and professional relationships with pupils.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the English department and wider school.
• Support pupils in developing confidence in reading, writing, analysis and communication.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and department where appropriate.
• Follow school policies relating to safeguarding, behaviour, assessment and health and safety.

About YouThe successful candidate will ideally:

• Hold QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Have experience teaching English within a UK secondary-school setting.
• Have strong knowledge of the English curriculum.
• Be confident teaching across KS3 and KS4.
• Have excellent classroom-management skills.
• Be able to plan and deliver engaging and appropriately challenging lessons.
• Have high expectations of pupil achievement and behaviour.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Work effectively as part of a department and wider school team.
